Hochkössen Paragliding

Winds up the northern slope of Unterberg and along the long western flank ensure most times a good rising air mass, which is just ideal for hang gliding and paragliding. Solar radiation produces plenty of additional thermal activity carrying air sports enthusiasts high above the “Kaiserwinkl”.

Launch sites in north, west and east direction at 1500m are easily accessible by our cable car and they are located directly next to the cozy mountain restaurant “Bärenhütte”.

Two landing sites are available to our air sports guests, one next to the bottom station of the cable car, another one - which is the officially approved landing site for our local flying school – within short walking distance and this also includes the “Fliegerbar” which is the official info-point for all flying matters. No extra take-off and landing fees are charged!

In our local flight school at the “Fliegerbar” you also can book a tandem flight with an experienced flight instructor.

Safety is taken very seriously at our flying site - impending dangers such as thunderstorms or gusty winds will be warned off by the gondola’s loudspeakers and there are plenty emergency landing sites on the pastures and fields in the wide broad Kössen valley.
